Staying in Touch With Your Child
All local authorities have a statutory duty to track the activities of young people for two years after Year 11 and up to the age of 25 if they have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). In Kent, The Education People is Kent County Council's trusted commissioned provider of this service.
The purpose is to identify those who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) so that they can be supported into a positive activity. The data is also used to help Kent County Council, the Department of Education and The Education People plan their services to young people.
Most of the information gathered on young people's activities come from school or college enrolment data, but we also have a small team who contact those who are not at school or college. This is done by telephone, text or letter. So, you may hear from us over the next two years.
Further information on how we do this is in the privacy statement.
