Course consist of two parts, a design and make activity and a written paper. The main focus is the D&M coursework project where a fully detailed design process is recorded in a folio to support the making of a product using resistant materials; wood, metal and plastic.The written papers are based on a wide range of topics such as design and product analysis, knowledge of materials, workshop and industrial manufacturing processes, commercial practices, CAD/CAM and environmental issues.

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Design and Technology or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification.With further training, you could go into a job related to Design and Technology and Electronics such as an Technician, Electrician or Design Engineer. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
