Overview

Simon Langton Girls' Grammar School Computer Science Department plays a major role in delivering students to exciting further education opportunities such as Harvard.  The abstract theoretical concepts  are studied through a range of practical applications and includes installing operating systems, while the programming languages contains Java, JavaScript and Python with the option of support from final year Computing students at Kent University.

Outline of the Course
In Year 12 the students cover th syllabus in a very practical manner, which allows them more opportunities to develop their understanding of the subject. This approach means that they are able to create a piece of coursework in Year 13 which is innovative and exciting to develop.

Where can this course take me?

Computing allows you to work through problem solving and has numerous practical uses, in all areas of industry, leisure, finance etc.

Many Universities offer Computing as a separate degree or in combination with other subjects, so the choice of where to go after A-Level is very wide.

Other Subjects.

Obvious combinations such as Physics and Maths make a good ‘package’ but the Arts also fit with Computing.
