Overview

The animal management unit is utilised throughout your course to help develop a wide range of skills. These include practical hands-on skills looking after animals and the wider skills needed in the workplace, such as teamwork and, in your second year, supervising others. These are achieved through practical sessions during your timetable and animal duties. Work experience and duties take place outside normal College hours and will include early morning duties, holidays and weekends throughout the course.

Students will attend taught sessions where they will complete both written and practical work to develop their knowledge and skills. Students will keep a portfolio of practical work and a diary of work experience and employer engagement (trips and guest speakers) which will be assessed as part of their work experience unit. The course will be assessed by a portfolio of assessments and exams.

Details

Work experience – 45 days per year, scheduled in blocks throughout academic year.
