The Level 2 Diploma in Hair & Media Make-up aims to provide you with a range of essential technical and practical skills and knowledge, which will equip you to seek employment or further training within the make-up Industry. As part of your continued training, you will spend a minimum of 3 sessions in our modern and well equipped make-up studio You will be taught by experienced vocational lecturers who have worked, or are currently working, in the make-up artistry industry and they therefore have a wide and current experience of the industries needs and trends. The practical salon skills are further supported by one to one reviews, underpinning theory and work skills. You will study the following content: Principles of working in the make-up industry Anatomy and physiology for make-up artists Research, develop and showcase make-up and hair artistry designs The art of applying makeup Hair artistry Creative make-up artistry. Your initial training is carried out on group members before progressing onto paying clients. You will be expected to behave in a highly professional manner at all times while in the salons and surrounding public areas. You will wear a uniform and are required to bring all equipment with you for each make-up artistry session. During your programme of study, you will have the opportunity to attend various different events & complete additional training such as Salon international, Make-up workshops and also have the opportunity to attend industry talks and short courses in a range of areas to include Tanning, eye treatments etc. Our Study Programme includes opportunities for you to develop your English and Maths skills as required. You may be expected to complete either functional skills or GCSE qualifications as part of your course depending on your GCSE results. This course includes the opportunity to take part in an industry placement in a sector relevant to your qualification and study programme. The placement will take place 1 or 2 days per week on the days when you are not in college studying. Industry placements are designed to give you the skills to start work at the end of your studies, progress into an apprenticeship, or to add to your UCAS statement.
How will it be delivered?
To gain this qualification, candidates must successfully achieve the following assessments: � One externally set, externally moderated assignment � One externally set, externally marked test, sat under examination conditions Optional unit assessments as required
A positive school report with a good attendance and behaviour record. Desired - 2 GCSEs A-C in English, Maths or Science. Functional Skills or equivalent L1 English, E3 Maths, E2 ICT.
