This course is ideal for those interested in the field of Creative Media Production Games. Those planning to work in this industry must develop an appreciation of how the industry operates. No matter what job they plan to undertake, they must learn about organisational behaviour and how to perform in both a corporate environment and in a smaller independent concern. This will provide learners with an overall understanding of organisational structures and the various job roles they can aspire to within the computer games industry. The Subsidiary Diploma is equivalent to 1 GCE A Level which means that when you have finished the course you can opt to go onto the Extended Diploma (worth 3 A levels), or move onto either Higher Education or employment. This course has both practical and theoretical elements. You will learn about games development by completing projects and assessments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The course content is designed around this industry and enables the learner to focus on particular subject areas and to develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge pertinent to this employment area and a career in this field. Unit content such as: - Pre-production Techniques for the Creative Media Industries - Communication skills for Creative Media Production - Research Techniques for the Creative Media Industries - 3D Modelling - Computer Games Engines - Understanding the Computer Games Industry - Object-Orientated Design for Computer Games - Computer Game Story Development This course includes the opportunity to take part in an industry placement in a sector relevant to your qualification and study programme. The placement will take place 1 or 2 days per week on the days when you are not in college studying. Industry placements are designed to give you the skills to start work at the end of your studies, progress into an apprenticeship, or to add to your UCAS statement.
How will it be delivered?
Assessment is specifically designed to fit the purpose and objective of the qualification. It includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications in the sector. There are three main forms of assessment that you need to be aware of: External, Internal and Synoptic.
5 GCSEs at grades 9- 5 including English and Mathematics or BTEC L2 Extended Certificate in Creative Media or equivalent qualification
