Overview

This course delivers the essential skills required to pursue and gain access through University or Apprenticeship to a career in Advertising, Corporate Identity, Layout design, Illustration, Marketing & Promotions, Art Direction, Picture Editing, Magazine & Newsprint design, Retail Design and Typographic design. Essential skills being; Generation and development of ideas; research and understanding of forms of visual communication; type layout; digital techniques and applications; illustration techniques and applications. This course includes the opportunity to take part in an industry placement in a sector relevant to your qualification and study programme. The placement will take place 1 or 2 days per week on the days when you are not in college studying. Industry placements are designed to give you the skills to start work at the end of your studies, progress into an apprenticeship, or to add to your UCAS statement. Design Journal, research journals, Prototypes and Models, Portfolio and Presentation.

Entry requirements

4 GCSE A* - C grades or equivalent. (inc English and Maths) Portfolio and interview. Formal academic qualifications may be waived for mature applicants but portfolio and interview still apply.
