Overview

The Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production (Digital Journalism) aims to provide trainees with opportunities to explore the transformative nature of digital journalism. Through a range of critical and practical approaches, learners will benefit from a hands-on approach towards the latest journalistic innovations. Along with the development of core skills in research and contextual awareness, learners will benefit from industry level insight to the following practices: - � � Interactive journalism - � � Creative & Factual Feature Writing - � � Media Law and Ethics - � � Critical Social Media Practices - � � Blog Creation - � � Vlog Creation - � � Online Presenting - � � Podcasting - � � Radio Production - � � Website Design - � � Marketing & Advertising Strategies - � � Public Relations Digital Journalism brings skills and opportunities to those looking to be digital influencers and content providers in social media, radio, vlogging, blogging and more traditional areas of journalism and creative writing. The course uses live projects and production-based exercises to get you involved in using digital platforms, presenting work to audiences and developing a large range of creative skills suitable for employment or Higher education. This course includes the opportunity to take part in an industry placement in a sector relevant to your qualification and study programme. The placement will take place 1 or 2 days per week on the days when you are not in college studying. Industry placements are designed to give you the skills to start work at the end of your studies, progress into an apprenticeship, or to add to your UCAS statement.

How will it be delivered?

All of your work will follow a vocational scenario or context that simulates a real-world situation. This course is 100 % coursework. You will present your work in a range of formats. You will be assessed on your research, development and experimentation and final outcomes and you will be encouraged to develop your work and professional practice through evaluation and self-reflection.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C in old grading system) or above which must include English and/or Maths or a Level 2 Diploma in Media at merit grade with ideally GCSE English and Maths at minimum Grade 4 or equivalent. You must also have: � A passion for Media �
