Overview

The A Level French course aims to develop the skills and knowledge aquired throughout the GCSE French course. Students will be expected to use their flair and passion for languages to independently immerse themselves in French language and culture. Students will develop their capabilities in reading, writing, speaking and listening. This qualification aims to prepare students for a globalised workplace, where the ability to speak another langauge will prove invaluable. Unit 1: Listening, Reading and Writing - language based exam. Unti 2: Writing exam on cultural topics studied (film/literature). Unit 3: Oral exam. Topics studied at A level: aspects of French speaking society: current trends, such as the impact of the internet on society; artistic culture in the French speaking world, including work on French cinema, music and literature as well as political life in France. Each theme is dealt with in considerable depth. The course thus develops problem-solving skills and the student?s ability to understand and respond to complex issues.

Unit 1: Listening, Reading and Writing – language based exam

Unit 2: Writing exam on cultural topics studied (film / literature)

Each theme is dealt with in considerable depth.  The course thus develops problem-solving skills and the student’s ability to understand and respond to complex issues.

  • 5+ 9-4 grades in GCSEs including English. Grade 6 in French.
