IB Diploma English Language and Literature - Block B @ The Leigh Academy

English Language and Literature builds upon the skills developed at GCSE. Students learn to critically explore and analyse a range of texts, both literary and non-literary; use theoretical approaches and consider the impact of historical, cultural and other contextual factors on texts; and produce their own literary or non-literary texts, in order to explore source material they have studied. This is a two year Higher Level Diploma course. Course Outline, In the Language part of the course, students will study a range of non-literary texts, which could include articles, advertisements, speeches, brochures, autobiographies, letters and other forms of writing. In the Literature part of the course, students will study three texts from a prescribed list of authors and texts, including a text in translation.
