Overview

Our Level 3 Cambridge Technicals in IT offer Introductory Diploma (360 GLH) qualifications to suit our students.

On completion of the course/programme our students are equipped with practical skills and knowledge in preparation for further study, Higher Education or the workplace.

It is designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector, the Cambridge Technicals in IT focuses on the skills, knowledge and understanding that today’s universities and employers demand.

Learners will be able to develop the core knowledge, skills and understanding the IT sector required in the IT sector and develops further skills. The 360 GLH is equivalent to one A Level in terms of size. Below is a breakdown of the programme

 

Unit 1: This is a mandatory exam unit for this programme. The unit will help you understand more about computer hardware, software, business IT systems, employability & communication skills used in IT environments. Ethical and operational issues &threats to computer systems

UNIT 2: This is a mandatory exam unit for this programme. The unit will help you understand more about global information usage. Understand styles, classification and management of global information. Understand the use of global information and the benefits to individuals and organisations. Understand the legal and regulatory framework governing the storage and use of global information. Understand the principles of information security.

UNIT 6: This is one of the 3 coursework units to be completed. The unit will help you understand how applications are designed by investigating potential solutions for application development. Afterwards generate designs for application solutions.  And finally presenting application solutions to meet client and user needs

UNIT 9: This is one of the 3 coursework units to be completed. The unit will help you understand the product development life cycle. How products are designed to meet clients and user needs, test the product prior to releasing the product to the clients/users

UNIT 13: This is one of the 3 coursework units to be completed. The unit will help you understand more about digital marketing, the use of social media in business, pla a content and propose appropriate social media channels for digital marketing campaign

UNIT 1 and 2 Exams will be January 2019 (Unit 1 – 9th January, Unit 2 – 11th January)

These exam dates are obviously for our current sixth formers, but this will give you an idea of what exams to expect whilst studying sixth form subjects.
