This exciting Level 3 National Diploma in Animal Management is a highly specialist work-related qualification which gives learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for employment in the Animal Care sector or further study at Degree level. This qualification is equal to two A Levels and learners are awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction for a final Diploma grade.


Students study 7 mandatory units:
- Animal Biology
- Animal Health & Disease
- Animal Welfare & Ethics
-Work Experience in the Animal Sector
- Practical Animal Husbandry
- Investigative Research Project
- Animal Behaviour

We also study a further 3 optional units which may include:
- Animal Grooming
- Animal Management in a Retail Environment
- Farm Livestock Husbandry
- Developing an Enterprise in the Animal Sector
- Human & Animal Interaction
- Wildlife Ecology & Conservation Management

How will it be delivered?

Students will undertake work experience placement in a land based industry as well as practical experience on our own working school farm which includes farm livestock and small mammals.

Students can go on to further study at specialist colleges such as Hadlow or Plumpton following successful completion of the course or apply for university.

Students may go into employment following the course and careers could include kennel and cattery work, grooming, retail, agriculture and veterinary nursing.

Entry requirements

Students should have obtained a Merit or Distinction in Level 2 BTEC First Diploma in Animal Care if studied and / or a Grade C or above in Science as well as English Language.
