Overview
At Dover Christ Church Academy, we are passionate about the art department and all that we have to offer to enable you to become the best artists and designers that you can be, and help you to prepare for a range of different art related careers, such as: graphic designers, web designers, teachers, fashion and textiles designers, fine artists, architects and set designers. We encourage you to explore a range of different materials and processes, scales and styles of artwork through explorations within everyday life, museums and galleries and research into historical and contemporary artists. We encourage you to find artists whose work you like and can identify with, whilst offering a wealth of knowledge to guide and introduce you to artists whom you may never have heard of before.
Initially you will be taught a wide variety of techniques and skills in painting, drawing and 3D sculpture. These samples will form part of your sketch books and lead into developing your themes as a basis for producing your own pieces for the externally marked units set by BTEC.
