Overview

The IBCP enables you to choose a career-related course that is most suited to you and the 'core; curriculum enables you to create an educational pathway that puts a strong focus on your individual needs. The IBCP allows you to combine academic and vocational subjects with a focus on your chosen career. The core programme of the IB enables you to achieve an internationally recognised qualification that broadens access to your chosen pathway.

The IBCP Core is very different from your other subjects as its main aim is to develop your personal and professional skills and your personal needs. The core programme enables you to achieve an internationally recognised qualification that broadens access to your chosen pathway. There are no external examinations, the only part of the IBCP that is externally moderated is the Reflective Project, which is a 3000 word project on an ethical dilemma of your choice within your Career Related Subject.

• Service Learning – this will consist of 50 hours work experience or volunteer work in their chosen career or vocational subject they are studying.

• Language – students will learn and show development in a language, such as French, Italian or British Sign Language, there is no external assessment for this unit.

• Reflective Project – this is a subject specific research project about an ethical topic within your vocational area. Reflective project work will consist of a written essay on your chosen ethical dilemma on global issues within your subject specialism. This unit is internally assessed and externally moderated, this component attracts UCAS points.


Entry requirements

5 GCES’s at grade 4+ including Maths and English.

To take this course you must take a combination of a vocational subject and two IB subjects at Post 16.
