This course is an academic related qualification providing a dynamic, evidence-based discipline that involves an excitiing engagement with the past. THis course equal 1 A Level at Higher and 1 AS at Standard.

History IB at DCCA is a fascinating course where you will study a rigorous programme encompassing key social, political and economic issues of the modern world from both a top-down and grassroots perspectives. 


The aim of this course is that students develop a sound understanding of the past and engage with multiple perspectives to appreciate the complex nature of historical concepts , events and issues on a global stage. Students will study a prescribed topic, a world history topic and a in-depth study alongside an investigation of their choice.

You will cover issues such as rights and protest in the Americas and South Africa, the rise of the authoritarian states in Cuba and Germany in the 20th Century and the complicated terrain of Superpower Relations in the 20th Century. We will also focus on the history of the Americas for the Higher Level unit.

You will also get the opportunity to delve into any period of history of your choice for your internal assessment.
