Overview
Biology is the study of living organisms and covers a wide variety of topics including organisms, cells, exchange and mass transport, biochemistry, genetics and ecosystems.
Details
In fact, biological issues are never far from the headlines, be they G.M crops, HIV, the human genome, obesity or deforestation. Students will learn about the biology behind contemporary issues such as DNA structure, mutations and control within the human body. They will also explore the different types of cloning and inherited change, along with cell recognition and the immune system.
Entry requirements
General entry requirements to study Level 3 qualifications at Hillview Sixth Form are Grade 4 or above in both English Language and Maths plus 3 other GCSE subjects.
Subject specific entrance requirements are:
GCSE Biology Grade 6, Chemistry Grade 5, Physics Grade 5 or GCSE Combined Science minimum Grades 6 and 5. An APS of 4.75 or above.
