Overview
Further mathematics is studied as an additional course to the A-Level Mathematics. Across the two years of the course you will study Core Maths 1, Core Maths 2 and two additional modules. The additional modules will consist of Further Mechanics 1 and Decision Mathematics 1.
Details
- Core Maths in year 1 will look at complex numbers, Argand diagrams, series, roots of polynomials, Volumes of revolution, Matrices, proof by induction and further vectors.
- Core Maths in year 2 will delve deeper into some familiar topics from year 1 plus introduce polar coordinates, Hyperbolic Functions and differential equations.
- Further Mechanics looks at momentum & impulse, work Energy & Power, elastic strings & springs and elastic collisions.
- Decision Mathematics introduces concepts which are heavily linked with computing such as algorithms, graphs & networks, route inspection, linear programming and critical path analysis.

Entry requirements
5 GCSE or equivalent grades at 4 or above including a 7 in Mathematics. Students must also study A Level Maths
