This is an excellent qualification for anyone who plays an instrument or sings to a good standard. You will learn how to perform in an ensemble, perform as a soloist, about working in the music industry and how to harmonise and arrange music using written notation. Work is both internally and externally examined and you will complete a variety of tasks, both practical and written, which will be marked by both your tutors and the exam board. You will cover four units over the two year course. Further Opportunities The course is accepted by universities for degrees in music, music performance, music events management or music production. Many students who have taken BTecs in music have secured places at good universities such as the Academy of Contemporary Music, the BIMM Institute and the Universities of Huddersfield and Leeds. Other students have secured apprenticeships.
Students must have achieved a Grade C equivalent English and if you have not taken GCSE music, you will need to audition prior to being accepted onto the course as you will be required to perform regularly as part of the assessment process.
BTEC qualifications give learners an excellent grounding to either follow a musical career path at university or vocationally through an apprentice scheme. You will learn skills which will enable them to seek employment as both a performer and an event organiser with many skills being learnt appropriate to the needs of current employers. This course is well suited to those hoping to study a Music based Degree such as: Events Management, Music Performance or Music Composition, as many of the above Units are applicable to these courses.
