The qualification gives a coherent introduction to the study of Fine Art. Students develop Fine Art projects and gain an understanding of the creative process. This course has been designed for Post 16 Fine Art students who are passionate about Art and want the opportunity to adopt an individual approach to their work. It will prepare candidates to progress into further or higher education, to follow courses in a broad range of Art based subjects, and ultimately to pursue a career in the creative industries.
Fine Art enables students to appreciate the visual world and develop the ability to respond in a personal and creative way. Students will develop skills including a working knowledge of materials, techniques and processes, as well as the ability to interpret and convey ideas and feelings using art, craft and design.
The course explores students’ imaginative and creative skills to develop meaningful, personal work. It encourages exploration and analysis of artists’ work, so that students can develop their knowledge and understanding of the place of Art in contemporary society.
Minimum of five 9-4 grades in GCSE examinations including English and Maths.
