Overview
Topics studied include: plant biology, animal biology and microbiology. These are covered by studying biodiversity, exchange and transport of substances, cells, ecosystems, control systems, genetics and evolution as well as energy for biological processes.
The course includes practical skills and mathematical skills.

Practical skills are assessed directly through core practicals.
AS: two written papers
A Level: three written papers

Overall requirement for Post 16:
5 A* - C at GCSE (English and mathematics grade 4). Max 2 BTECs at merit can count.
Subject specific requirements:
BB in science core and additional 5 in mathematics
