Overview
Topics studied include: formulae and equations, atomic structure, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibria, redox equations, organic chemistry and modern analytical techniques. The course includes practical skills and requires mathematical skills. The AS and A Level qualifications will be taught con-currently, with AS available after the first year.

How will it be delivered?
Assessed by written examinations
Practical skills are assessed directly through core practicals.
AS: two written papers 1h 30mins each
A Level: two written papers 2h 15mins each plus paper 3, 1h 30mins
Entry requirements
Overall requirement for Post 16:
5 A* - C at GCSE (English and mathematics grade 4). Max 2 BTECs at merit can count.
Subject specific requirements:
BB in science core and additional and a 5 in mathematics.
