Pure Mathematics can be best described as theoretical mathematics in an abstract or non-applied manner. As such it has a very high algebra content and good algebraic skills are therefore essential to be successful. Statistics involves the analysis and interpretation of data and takes the skills from GCSE to a much higher level. Mechanics has strong links with Physics, looking at forces and how they interact with objects.

How will it be delivered?

The assessment framework for mathematics consists of three examined papers, all of which carry 100 marks. These examinations are 2-hour papers and are worth 1/3 of the final qualification.
