Year 1:


Unit 1:  Financial Capability for the Immediate and Short Term

Purpose of money, The personal life cycle, Payment methods, Everyday banking, Savings products, Borrowing products, Providers, Customer protection, Budgets and forecasts, Dealing with unexpected events, Dealing with debt , Earnings.


Unit 2:  Financial Capability for the Medium and Long Term

Needs, wants and aspirations, Savings and investment products, Borrowing products, Dealing with long-term risks, Financial planning, Dealing with unforeseen events, Sources of information and advice


Year 2:


Unit 3:  Sustainability of an Individual’s finances

External factors influencing financial performance, personal budgets, implications of personal debt and borrowing, impact of global events and ethical considerations on the financial services industry, changes in the financial services industry.


Unit 4: Sustainability of the Financial Services System.

Financial services providers and the competitive environment, the importance of sustainability for FS providers, the influence of external factors on FS Providers, marketing materials produced by FS providers, approaches used by FS providers to attract, retain and satisfy consumers, market segmentation and product development to meet the needs, wants and aspirations of financial consumers.

4 Externally assessed modular exams taken in January and April
