Overview

IB Information Technology in a Global Society - Equivalent to 0.5 A Level

This course is the study and evaluation of the impacts of information technology (IT) on individuals and society. It explores the advantages and disadvantages of the access and use of digitized information at the local and global level.

The subject is based on 4 strands:

• Strand 1: Social and ethical significance

• Strand 2: Application to specific areas

• Strand 3: IT Systems

• Strand 4: Analysing ITGS Situations

During the two years students complete a controlled assessment with a title of their choice. The controlled assessment functions on the application of a selection of the units above, demonstrating their comprehension of the units through an investigative platform.

Method of assessment:

Controlled assessment: 30%

Final examinations (2 papers): 70%

Entry requirements

Grade 4+ in 5 GSCEs including English Language, and Maths 

Preferred BTEC ICT or GCSE computing
