RSL Subsidiary Diploma for Music Practitioners - equivalent to 1.5 A Levels
This course is a highly practical course and focuses on Music Performance and recognition of achievement through practical musical skills, as well as theory/written work. Students will be expected to take part in performances outside of lessons including coffee mornings/ open mic nights and this will help them complete their units.
Learners apply a range of key skills, knowledge and understanding and work independently in preparation for employment/further study. This course runs side-by-side the Music Technology course, with 2 common units.

- Rehearsal Skills & Live Music (EXTERNAL Core)
- Music Event Management
- Improving Instrumental

5 Internally Assessed/Externally Moderated Units
The external assessment is a practical exam, completed in school over several weeks, however this must be passed in order to be awarded the qualification.
Units are awarded Pass, Merit or Distinction against given criteria.
GCSE Music/ Performing Arts or equivalent BTEC
