Overview
The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to work with children between birth and five years, with knowledge of children up to seven years.
This qualification allows progression on to the CACHE Level 3, Early Years Educator qualifications and other Level 3 qualifications relating to child care.
Details
Learners must achieve a total of 33 credits: 29 credits from mandatory group A; plus 4 credits from optional group B.
Learners will also need to attend a real work environment, as they need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
250 placement hours are recommended for this qualification. Our on-site placement officer will arrange work experience.
How will it be delivered?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by CACHE.
Some learning outcomes within this qualification will require assessment in a real work environment.
Entry requirements
We would recommend a grade 4/3 at GCSE in English and mathematics, and a grade 4/3 GCSE in science.
This qualification is suitable for a range of learners from the age of 16 onwards who have little or no experience in childcare. You should have a sensible and mature attitude to both work and study and be prepared to make a considerable commitment of time and effort during your qualification.
