Being one of the largest Sixth Forms in Kent it provides the widest range of courses, fulfilling the aim to offer ‘as much as possible, as often as possible, for as many as possible.’
Part of the offer is The Canterbury Institute of Sport which benefits from outstanding facilities. This unique professional sports training programme includes full-time training and competition in a range of sports. Each sport-specific academy is designed to replicate the quality of provision in professional sporting environments and exceed the offer of the private sector.
Students follow integrated A Level or BTEC qualifications taught by outstanding, qualified, full-time teachers. The sport-specific training enables our students to develop their performance, mental toughness and physical conditioning, compete at the highest level, go on to university and provides opportunities for overseas scholarships.
Students on The Vista Twister Cheerleading Academy will benefit from three sessions per week dedicated to developing their skills and fitness. All students who are accepted into programmes offered by The Canterbury Institute of Sport benefit from top class Sports Science support.
Tony Kesisoglou is our senior strength and conditioning coach. Tony is an ex-international basketball player and now combines his PHD work at The University of Kent with delivering outstanding support for our student athletes. Tony works closely with Mark Dayson who is our sports physiotherapist. Mark is a very experienced sports physio and as well as treating students for injuries, offers education on prehab routines and recovery protocols. There is also sports massage available. Students with an interest in strength and conditioning can gain qualifications in Personal Training through our partner company Rob Horswell Training.
All Institute of Sport students get preferential access to the state-of-the-art fitness gym in Lifestyle Fitness. The Vista Twister Cheerleading Academy is open to students of all abilities and the content of training will be designed to meet the needs of every individual on the programme.
