Learning history helps you to understand the present by teaching you about the past. You will learn in depth about Tudor England and Nazi Germany, developing a number of important skills as you do so including: essay-writing, source analysis, research, critical thinking and evaluation.


Topic 1: The Tudors: England, 1485–1603

Topic 2: Democracy and Nazism: Germany, 1918–1945.

You will also complete an in-depth historical investigation on a subject of your choosing.

How will it be delivered?

Component 1: Breadth study (exam, 2h 30m, 40%)

Component 2: Depth study (exam, 2h 30m, 40%)

Component 3: Historical investigation (coursework, 3500-4500 words, 20%)

Entry requirements

Grade 6 in GCSE History (or Grade 6 in English Language if not studied at GCSE)

Successful history students will enjoy History and have performed well in it at GCSE. You will need to be good at expressing ideas in a clear and coherent manner, able to understand and interpret information from a variety of sources, present evidence for multiple sides of an argument and reach clear and well-reasoned conclusions.
