BTEC LEVEL 3 NATIONAL AWARD IN CHILDREN’S PLAY, LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT.
This course covers units which are essential to working with Children. It gives students a greater awareness of current issues and prepares them for higher education or the world of work.
Students will complete 5 compulsory units;
- Unit One – Child Development
- Unit Two – Play in Early Years Settings
- Unit Three – Meeting Children’s Physical Development, Physical Care and Health Needs
- Unit Four – Health and Safety Practice in Early Years Settings
- Unit Five – Collaboration with Parents, Colleagues and Other Professionals
A total of 360 guided learning hours are required to complete this course.
Unit One is externally assessed (written exam) worth 25%. All other units are internally assessed and portfolio based.
Each unit is internally assessed. Students can achieve a Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction* according to the number of points they achieve.
Students must at least Pass Unit one of the first or second attempt to continue with the course.
This qualification is equivalent to ONE A-Level.
This qualification can provide career opportunities in all areas of the Child Care sector for example Teaching, Paediatric Nursing, Education Psychology, Nursery Nursing and Social Work.
Students should have achieved:
Grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English. It would be desirable to have completed the subject at GCSE however, this is not a pre-requisite.
