The core modules of this course covers an introduction to the business environment, how businesses use and manage their resources, an introduction to marketing and how businesses communicate. Students will also study a range of units chosen by the school to give them a deeper understanding of some key aspects of business.
To complete the Extended Certificate, students will complete four units in total over two years. This will include the three mandatory units listed below and one other.
Unit 1 Exploring Business – you will look at different types of business ownership, how organisations are structured and how they interact with the business environment.
Unit 2 Developing a Marketing Campaign– you will look at how and why a business markets its products.
Unit 3 Personal & Business Finance – you will look at the importance of managing finances both to the individual and business.
Students will require a minimum of five A*-C/9-4 grades at GCSE, including English and Mathematics at level 5.
Students can take this course alongside other Level 3 courses and progress to study Business Studies or other courses at University. Alternatively the skills that have been learnt will enable students to work effectively in the workplace if they choose to move on to an apprenticeship or job in industry.
