Overview

We study AQA Law, A level specification which allows students to:

  • Develop their analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Develop students' problem solving skills through the application of legal rules, together with an understanding of legal method and reasoning
  • Provide excellent preparation for those students who wish to progress to degree level study or pursue a wide range of careers

The A-level Law specification is designed to encourage and engage students to sustain their interest and enjoyment in law.

Details

Paper 1:  The nature of law and the English legal system and Criminal law.

Paper 2:  The nature of law and The English legal system and Tort.

Paper 3:  The nature of law and the English legal system and Human rights.

Topics include: 

  • Parliamentary Law Making
  • Judicial precedent
  • Juries
  • Legal Professions
  • Law and Morality

How will it be delivered?

Each paper is assessed with a 2 hour written exam.  These exams will be at the end of the course in Year 13.

Entry requirements

Students will require a minimum of five A*-C/9-5 grades at GCSE, including English and

Mathematics.
