This popular BTEC is a practical course that allows you to be as creative as you want to be. There are specialist areas that you can choose to study and also one broad course. You will get to mix with students from all the different specialist areas and that’s always a great way to swap ideas and be inspired.
This course is the equivalent of 1 A-level.
This course covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the appropriate vocational sector, offering flexibility and a choice of emphasis through the specialist units.
The intention is to study a broad range of artistic styles. From this, the student can then specialise in one area. The specialisms include painting, print making, sculpture, drawing, illustration, graphic design and textile design. This course is equivalent to one A-level on completion and may allow direct entry to University courses without having to complete the one year Art Foundation Diploma.
Unit 3 and Unit 12: Two coursework assignments assessed throughout the course
Unit 1 and Unit 2: Two external examination units.
BTEC Art and Design in Practice. Level 2 pass or above
or GCSE grade 4 and above in Art and Design.
An interview with course tutors with a portfolio of work.
BTEC Art & Design is a useful qualification for progression into diploma courses in graphic design or art based careers in theatre design, advertising and printing. The qualification will be a requirement for admission to foundation courses, which lead on to degree courses in fine art, fashion, graphic design, jewellery design, sculpture and a multitude of other courses in media, advertising and theatre.
