Overview
The A level Chemistry course builds on the work you do at GCSE. The course attempts to answer the big question ‘what is the world made of?’ and it’s the search for
this answer that makes this subject so fascinating. From investigating how one substance can be changed drastically into another, to researching a new wonder
drug to save millions of lives, the opportunities that chemistry provides are endless.

You enjoy practical work and have a passion for chemistry. You want to take your GCSE knowledge further and apply it to new situations. You want to understand why things react and how chemistry affects all our lives every day.
How will it be delivered?
AS Chemistry 2 x 1 hour 30 minutes papers, each 80 marks and worth 50% of AS.
A level Chemistry 3 written exams:
Paper 1: 2 hours, 105 marks, 35%
of A-level.
Paper 2: 2 hours, 105 marks, 35%
of A-level.
Paper 3: 2 hours, 90 marks, 30% of
A-level.
