Overview

Specialist pathways are focussed on future careers or higher education opportunities. A pathway is made up of courses that allow any student the opportunity to achieve their goals and ambitions.

With access to the College training nursery, students are supported during their studies, enabling them to recognise their potential before entering the childcare industry or progressing onto university.

Students benefit from structured industry placements and extensive links with local employers.

The Early Years pathway includes the following courses:

Skills for Childcare Diploma Level 1;
Early Years Practitioner Diploma Level 2;
Childcare & Education Diploma Level 3;
Early Years Educator Diploma Level 3;
Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 3 Diploma.

How will it be delivered?

There is a mix of assessments ; practical, on-line and end tests. At all stages you will be informed of your progress and you will be able to monitor how you are progressing with the systems available to you at College.

Entry requirements

We want you to succeed and attain your future ambitions. As such there will be a number of options open to you within the pathway you have chosen. Depending on your skills, aptitude and interests we will be able to offer you a number of options to help you towards your chosen career. These options will be explored at your interview, as well as giving you the option to see the College resources available. Any information about costs of ; equipment, materials , books that you may need for your pathway will be discussed at interview. Please remember to ask your tutor about any additional costs associated with your learning including trips and visits.

Your next steps...

Once you have applied to one of our Colleges, we will send you an email to create an account with us in order to choose an interview date. This system is referred to as the Enterprise platform and will look different to the Kent Choices platform.

This email will be sent to the email account you have used to set up your Kent Choices account. If your school blocks external e-mails then you will need to either ask them to release e-mails from us or use your own personal e-mail. Any questions about this please contact the College. Please check your inbox and junk folders. You must complete this registration within 5 days, after that the registration link will expire. If your e-mail registration link has expired please contact the College you are applying to. The College will be able to resend you the registration email.

1. Open the email and follow the instructions to create a password

2. Sign in using your email address and password

3. Finish the application form

4. Choose an interview date

5. Submit your application request

You can also save your application for later to check dates or information before submitting to us.

You will receive an email confirming your interview date. Please add this to your calendar. Some pathways require you to complete a project or bring examples of work with you. Please check this email before you attend.

If you cannot attend your interview, you will need to contact the College to rearrange.
