Who is this qualification for? Equivalent to 1.5 A Levels, this qualification has been designed to provide post-16 learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to further education, higher education and training or employment in the industry. This qualification offers learners the opportunity to develop their technical creative media skills through a process of self-evaluation, practice and review. In addition to the sector-specific content available in this qualification, the requirements mean that learners develop the transferable and higher-order skills that are highly regarded by higher education and employers, for example communication, project management and problem solving. What does this qualification cover? The content of this qualification has been developed in consultation with academics to ensure that it supports progression to higher education. In addition, teachers, employers and professional bodies have been involved and consulted in order to confirm that the content is appropriate and consistent with current practice for those learners who choose to enter employment directly. The qualification provides the knowledge, skills and understanding that will prepare learners for further study or training. Learners taking this qualification will study One mandatory learning and teaching module: 1. Exploring and Developing Creative Media Skills. What could this qualification lead to? This qualification gives learners the opportunity to develop their technical creative media skills over their course of study, through a process of critical evaluation, practice and review, which are key skills for progression to higher education. The qualification attracts UCAS Tariff points and meets the admission requirements for most relevant courses, such as film, television, video, radio, games, web/app, visual communication, digital media and media subjects. Learners should check the entry requirements for degree programmes with the higher education providers that are offering them. How does the qualification provide employability skills? In the Pearson BTEC National in Creative Media Practice learning and teaching modules and assessment units, learners have opportunities during the teaching and learning phase to practise developing employability skills. The employability skills referenced in this specification are generally the following three main categories: � Cognitive and problem-solving skills: using critical thinking, approaching non-routine problems applying expert and creative solutions, using systems and technology � Interpersonal skills: communicating, working collaboratively, negotiating and influencing, self-presentation � Intrapersonal skills: self-management, adaptability and resilience, self-monitoring and development. There are also specific requirements in some assessment units for assessment of these skills where relevant, for example where learners are required to undertake real or simulated activities. This course includes the opportunity to take part in an industry placement in a sector relevant to your qualification and study programme. The placement will take place 1 or 2 days per week on the days when you are not in college studying. Industry placements are designed to give you the skills to start work at the end of your studies, progress into an apprenticeship, or to add to your UCAS statement.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grades 9- 5 including English and Mathematics or BTEC L2 Extended Certificate in Creative Media or equivalent qualification or NCFE L2 Creative Media.
