Overview

The CILEx Level 3 Diploma for Legal Secretaries course is suitable for Year 12 or 13 leavers or perhaps more mature learners who wish to work in a business environment in a range of roles such as a Legal Secretary or Personal Assistant or perhaps a more administrative role like an Admin Assistant. These roles could be in a large global law firm based in London or perhaps working locally for a smaller firm of solicitors. Wherever you wish to work, you can apply the skills you learn to any corporate environment and are not limited to only working in a legal environment. Our Legal Secretarial course will equip you with the essential administrative and secretarial skills and legal knowledge required to gain employment. You will learn how to produce a range of professional documents and correspondence using the latest Microsoft Office software, develop skills in planning and prioritising, work as part of a team and enhance your communication skills, all of which are necessary for a career in the modern working environment. You will also gain an understanding of the UK legal system, civil law and criminal law, equipping you with valuable skills and knowledge for employment. In addition to this, you will study for the CILEx Level 2 Certificate in Legal Studies qualification, after which you will be able to pursue further study or training should you wish to follow that particular career path. Our study programme also includes the opportunity for you to develop your English and Maths skills as required. You may also be expected to attend Functional Skills or GCSE classes as part of your study programme depending on your GCSE Maths result. This course includes the opportunity to take part in an industry placement in a sector relevant to your qualification and study programme. The placement will take place 1 or 2 days per week on the days when you are not in college studying. Industry placements are designed to give you the skills to start work at the end of your studies. By the end of the course, you will have learnt a vast range of administrative, technical and employability skills which you can take forward in your future secretarial career.
