The Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production TV and Film teaches you to participate in 'real world' professional processes with an emphasis on attracting audiences and consumers. This course will suit you if you are interested in a career in Film and TV and want to skill up to an industry level. This will include written work that will require you to fully understand the codes and conventions of each media product so that you can see why there are certain ways of doing things. The focus of this course is to help you develop industry-standard production processes, as well as technical and creative skills. You will be expected to plan, film and edit a range of productions this could include TV and radio adverts, music videos, film trailers, documentaries, short films, campaign videos etc. The course is designed for people who have a passion and desire to explore the diverse subject area that is covered by Creative Media Production. Whilst it is beneficial to have a media qualification, this is not essential. However, you should demonstrate prior experience, for example through making own videos as a hobby or having done work experience in a media environment. At the end of each year, you will complete a major project where you will be able to work on any type of media project within film, TV, and audio. Students in past years have submitted films to film festivals, made documentaries, developed their own digital channels and worked on audio dramas the student has a high level of autonomy at every stage from idea inception to the presentation of the project. It is provisionally a 2-year programme that consists of the diploma in year 1 and a top up to an extended diploma in year 2. This course includes the opportunity to take part in an industry placement in a sector relevant to your qualification and study programme. The placement will take place 1 or 2 days per week on the days when you are not in college studying. Industry placements are designed to give you the skills to start work at the end of your studies, progress into an apprenticeship, or to add to your UCAS statement.

How will it be delivered?

All of your work will follow a vocational scenario or context that simulates a real-world situation. This course is 100 % coursework. You will present your work in a range of formats. You will be assessed on your research, development and experimentation and final outcomes and you will be encouraged to develop your work and professional practice through evaluation and self-reflection.
