Specialist pathways are focussed on future careers or higher education opportunities. A pathway is made up of courses that allow any student the opportunity to achieve their goals and ambitions. If you are interested in working with young children this area of study will provide you with the first step onto a challenging but very rewarding career.
If you are interested in teaching or working with children, our range of courses will give you hands-on work experience, and our professionally qualified staff will help you get the most out of the theory, making you work-ready for your future career. With the current focus on high quality, professional early years education and care, this is a fast growing sector in the UK. Practitioners working with children in their early years are expected to be literate, numerate and function at a high level in a wide range of skills. They need a comprehensive understanding of young children's development, the importance of safeguarding, the need for appropriate health and safety at all times, as well as how to plan challenging, developmentally appropriate activities to support young children's play and learning and how to support young children with a wide range of additional needs and behaviours. And that's just for starters! Do you have a passion for working with the next generation and helping to mould the future of society? Are you willing to work hard, both in college and at your early years work placement? With courses at various levels, no matter what your starting point is, we have a course to suit you. You will be taught by qualified lecturers with a passion for early years education and care, all of whom have practical knowledge and experience of working in the sector.
