What will you be working towards?
||Level 1 Qualification in Land-Based Studies (Horticulture)
This course is highly practical and makes full use of the excellent Horticultural resources. Students are able to access a range of additional learning support, based on need. They will develop a range of employability skills, including practical skills, communication, and land-based specific knowledge, as well as develop their ICT skills. Along with this, and the practical development of maths and English skills, there is a focus on developing students both personally and professionally so they are able to take on further studies or progress into employment. The course is well supported through the use of virtual learning resources. Students will also get the opportunity to carry out a work placement onsite in Broadview Gardens and at our nursery at Court Lane.
How will it be delivered?
The course is delivered through a range of practical sessions using the facilities at Hadlow College public gardens - Broadview Gardens - and also the College Nursery. There are some classroom-based sessions. Assessment is though a range of styles including practical assessments, photographic and video evidence logs, workbooks and written assignments.
Minimum of 2 GCSEs at D - E / 3 � 2 Grade OR equivalent (Entry Level 3). You should also have a keen interest in the subject and demonstrate a commitment to the curriculum area.
Your next steps...
Once completed students can progress onto a Level 2 qualification in Horticulture or gain employment in a range of industry careers. Typical employers include local authorities, nurseries, garden centres, publicly and privately owned gardens, commercial landscaping companies.
