What will you be working towards?
||Level 2 Technical Diploma in Horse Care (Hadlow)
This is a one-year, full time course consisting of a range of subjects that enable students to achieve a sound foundation in equine studies preparing them for employment or apprenticeships within the industry. The course offers students exceptional opportunity to gain hands on experience to develop their practical skills in horse husbandry and riding. The course structure comprises a range of units designed to provide students with a sound understanding of the principals of horse care. There are mandatory units and a choice between two optional units. Duties on the College Yard, and work experience, are also both core to this qualification.
How will it be delivered?
Students are assessed throughout the course using assignments, tests, practical observations and external assessments. Students are expected to relate theory to practice in all assessments.
Minimum of 4 GCSEs C - D / 4 - 3 Grade or equivalent (Level 1 Diploma), which must include GCSE in English OR maths A - D / 9 � 3 Grade or equivalent. Students who wish to take the riding option will need at least 6 months' experience of riding a horse
Your next steps...
On successful completion of this course, students may progress directly into the equine industry to begin roles such as; groom, stable hand, retail assistant or welfare assistant. Typical employers include competition centres, yards, research centres, feed manufacturers, event management agencies, equine welfare organisations, riding schools, racing yards, studs and equine veterinary clinics. Students may also choose to apply to continue their education through a Level 3 qualification.
