Overview

This course allows students to investigate the financial services sector and gain a clear understanding of how to manage their own personal finances and understand how the banking sector works and the types of careers available.

The course is based around three units:

Unit 1: Your Personal Finances

  2. Sources of money
  3. Storing money safely
  4. Spending & budgeting
  5. Saving & selling
  6. Borrowing
  7. What is insurance
  8. How do we keep our money safe?

Unit 2: Money Management for your Generation

  1. Modern banking
  2. Pay and pay calculations
  3. Types of payment card
  4. The cost of borrowing
  5. Using money abroad
  6. Financial difficulties and their consequence
  7. Financial advice and protection

Unit 3: Your future, Your Career

  1. Employability: applying for a job
  2. Roles and career paths
  3. The financial services industry
  4. Routes into financial careers and other industries

3 externally set and marked examinations: 2 multiple choice and 1 written paper

How will it be delivered?

Learners are required to successfully complete all the units included in this qualification. There will be a combination of taught classroom sessions and individual study and out of lesson learning.

Entry requirements

Students should expect to achieve 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 1

Your next steps...

Students can progress through the programme, gradually  building on their skills and challenging themselves to proceed to the next level. One they have completed the qualification, they may want to progress onto our Level 3 Finance qualification, progressing onto university or using the skills they have developed as the foundation for an apprenticeship.
