Specialist pathways are focussed on future careers or higher education opportunities. A pathway is made up of courses that allow any student the opportunity to achieve their goals and ambitions.

The T Level qualifications are new, two-year level 3 qualifications equivalent to three A Levels. T Levels are worth UCAS points and will be recognised by universities.

Each T Level has been developed with leading businesses and employers to give you the skills you need to progress into employment, a higher apprenticeship or higher education.

In year one, you will study the core units including:

• Working within the Health and Science sector

• Health

• Safety and Environmental regulations in the Health and Science sector

• Managing information and data within the Health and Science sector

• Good Scientific and Clinical Practice

• Core Science concepts

In year two of the course you will study the occupational specialism, Supporting the Adult Nursing Team. Classroom based learning and hands on sessions in a simulation suite will further develop your technical knowledge and vocational skills.

How will it be delivered?

T Level students spend 80% of their course in the classroom, learning the skills that employers need and 20% of the course in an industry placement, putting these skills into practice.

Assessment in year one of the T Level consists of two exam papers and an employer set project.

The occupational specialism in year two will be assessed through a series of externally set tasks which may include observation of practical skills and a portfolio of evidence.

Entry requirements

The entry requirements are 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, or equivalent, including English, maths and science. You will also need a clear DBS check.

For students who want to study a T Level but currently do not have the entry requirements, a Level 2 in Health and Social Care will support knowledge and understanding of the sector whilst providing the opportunity to continue to study English, maths and science, supporting the progression onto a T Level.
