Entry Requirements: - Five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English, and the individual subject entry requirements.

How many subjects can you choose: - You MUST choose 3 subjects (these can be mixture of A-level or BTEC's). Please DO NOT choose anymore than 5 subjects.

Please note that if you are intending to study a course at Invicta Grammar School as part of your course choices, you can only study one Invicta course (maximum) alongside two Valley Park courses.

Course Summary

Students will develop skills in critical thinking and reasoning through looking at topics such as life after death, sexual and medical ethics, and scientific challenges to Christianity. They will apply their evaluation skills of ethics to real life ethical issues and controversial situations, developing skills in problem solving and debating, and coming to informed and considered conclusions.

This subject gives you the opportunity to critically analyse the world around us. It examines what we mean by right and wrong and the human impact of ethical decisions made. We debate and explore some of the biggest questions asked by humanity.

Course Details

Philosophy & Ethics is an essay based subject that is always changing!

Changes in technology and current affairs give arise to different ways of ethically examining the world and how we deal with world issues.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

For the A Level, three terminal examinations at end of year 13 (100% of the grade).

Paper 1: Philosophy

Paper 2: Ethics

Paper 3: Theology

Entry requirements

Grade 5 or above in Religious Studies or Grade 5 or above in English Language or English Literature.
