Course Summary

Learners will focus on preparations to enter a career in the Creative industries

Learners are in control of their educational pathway at Salt College and can decide their main area of interest. Learners choose which skills they specialise in and study at Level 2 or 3, giving them options to progress into work within the Creative sector or Higher Education. Qualifications involve completing a series of set assessments. The learners work independently and at their own pace but are fully assisted and encouraged to enable them to achieve the required outcomes.

Course Details

This pathway covers a wide range of areas related to the skills and knowledge required for preparing to work within the Creative Industries. Enabling learners to select their qualifications to progress through their pathway, preparing them for employment, freelance self employment or Higher Education.

  • PSHE Award in Personal and Social Development (Level 1)

  • Creative Craft – Construction (Level 1)
  • Graphic Design Technical Award (Level 2)
  • Art and Design (Level 2)
  • Art and Design (Level 3)
  • Media ( Level 2)
  • Media (level 3)
  • Music ( Level 2)

Course content -

  • Year 1 - Introduction to Creative industries
  • Year 2 - Creative Industries Level 1
  • Year 3 - Photography or Graphic Design or Art & Design or Media Level 2
  • Year 4 - Art & Design level 3 or Media Level 3

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Progress and achievements are recorded by learners creating a portfolio of coursework to provide evidence of their work. Maths and English are exam-based assessments.

Entry requirements

The Creative Industries pathway is for anyone aged 16-25 with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

We have Several levels within this pathway. Each learner will be internally assessed and placed on the correct level based on their skills and prior achievement within the subject.

  • Entry level 3 - No formal qualifications
  • Level 1 - Previous qualifications which will be assessed on application
  • Level 2 - Level 1 qualification
  • Level 3 - Level 2 qualification

After completing our 4 year programme, learners can progress into work with the skills and experience necessary to apply for apprenticeships or employment.
