Course Summary

The Hospitality Pathway prepares learners for the world of Food and Drink retail and Hospitality. Learners will develop a range of skills including;

  • Preparing Food and Drink
  • Customer Services
  • Barista Training
  • Cocktail Making
  • Front of House
  • Mixology
  • Food and Drink Hygiene

Course Details

This Pathway covers a very wide range of essential areas to succeed within the Hospitality Industry.

Learners will complete several qualifications from entry- level 3, preparing them to gain a role within the Hospitality Industry. Learners will learn essential skills to support their destinations to build their customer services techniques such as;

  • Understand the features and requirements for beverage counter service
  • Serve beverages safely and efficiently
  • Use a commercial espresso machine to produce a range of types of coffees and other beverages
  • Prepare and serve food items typically associated with cafes
  • enable learners to use ingredients to produce cocktails as well as to understand the importance of measurements and the impact of using ice and sugar.

Course content -

  • Year 1 - Introduction to Hospitality
  • Year 2 - The Hospitality Industry level 1
  • Year 3 - Hospitality, Barista Skills and Front of House level 2
  • Year 4 - Hospitality, Barista, Mixology & Front of House level 3

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Progress and achievements are recorded by learners creating a portfolio of coursework to provide evidence of their work. Maths and English are exam-based assessments.

Entry requirements

The Hospitality Pathway is for anyone aged 16-25 with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

There are several levels within this Pathway, each learner will be internally assessed and placed on the correct level based on their skills, prior achievement and goals within this pathway.

  • Entry level 3 - No formal qualifications
  • Level 1 - Previous qualifications which will be assessed on application
  • Level 2 - Level 1 qualification
  • Level 3 - Level 2 qualification

After completing our 4 year programme, learners can progress into work with the skills and experience necessary to apply for apprenticeships or employment.
