About us

Welcome to The Lenham School

About us

The transition to Post-16 education can be a challenging time for many young adults with so much to consider. It is important that the correct choice is made for every young person.

The Lenham School Sixth Form aims to create a friendly and focused environment in which students are encouraged to develop a sense of independence and take responsibility for their studies. The Sixth Form students pride themselves on being leaders for The Lenham School students as well as being an integral part of the whole school. Students have the opportunity to take a lead for the whole school with a number of leadership opportunities.

We provide various enrichment opportunities, including a structured Personal Development programme, Leadership and Mentoring opportunities, careers guidance as well as a number of recreational activities such as bowling.

The Sixth Form at The Lenham School has grown this year and is continuing to expand. We regard it very much as the culmination of the educational experience we offer at the school and our expectation and hope is that students will wish to complete their school careers with us or begin a whole new academic career with us.

The Sixth Form years are important in shaping future careers and education and we place importance on students’ academic achievement, increasing their self-confidence and developing a sense of community responsibility.

Above all, the Sixth Form is about helping you to realise your potential, whatever it is. We want our Sixth Formers to be successful and happy, whether this is success at University, in your chosen career or in developing your wider potential. Post 16 education is a vital journey in a young adult’s life.

Student support

Students in Years 12 and 13 are supported by a Personal Development Lead (Form Tutor), whom they meet with each morning. The Sixth Form is also overseen by our Head of Sixth Form, ensuring every student receives guidance and support throughout their studies. In addition, each student belongs to one of our five Houses and takes part in a variety of inter-house competitions and events.

Our Sixth Form students are based in the brand-new Sixth Form Centre, which features a dedicated quiet study area equipped with Mac computers, as well as a welcoming social space for relaxation and collaboration.

What makes us different?

What sets The Lenham School Sixth Form apart from other institutions is our outstanding Personal Development Programme. Recognised by Optimus Education with the Excellence in Pupil Development Award, our school has been celebrated for placing opportunity at the heart of everything we do.

Work Ready, Career Ready – We work in partnership with a range of universities, employers, and apprenticeship providers to give students a breadth of career experiences. From university visits to Royal Holloway and aspiration sessions with the University of Cambridge, to careers fairs and tailored work experience placements, our students gain invaluable insight into future pathways. This approach has led to ambitious and successful destinations for all our Sixth Form alumni.

Trips and Enrichment – Throughout Years 12 and 13, students enjoy a wide variety of subject and enrichment trips, including visits to Aspirational Digital, Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter, Legoland, Wembley Stadium, and Cadbury World. We also offer exciting social experiences such as trips to Alton Towers and Go Ape.

Internationalism – We are proud to offer a range of international visits that encourage students to become globally minded citizens. Recent trips have included Poland, Paris, New York, and Barcelona.

Charity and Community – Giving back is an important part of Sixth Form life. Our students take pride in organising and running events such as the annual Over-60s Christmas Afternoon Tea, where they plan and deliver a special outreach event for members of the local community.

Developing the Leaders of Tomorrow – Our students are encouraged to lead and inspire others through a variety of leadership opportunities, including roles as Head Students, Mentors, and Sports Leaders.
