Entry Requirements: - Our Sixth Form entry requirements are five GCSEs at Grade 4 and above for the 'A' Level Pathway (in addition to some individual subject entry requirements) and 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above for the Vocational (BTEC) Pathway. The course information gives specific details of course content and entry requirements. Please also refer to the Sixth Form Prospectus for the specific entry requirements for the chosen subjects.
Students need to select the equivalent of 3 A Levels or more. (Triple BTEC counts as 3, Double BTEC counts as 2). Subjects are grouped into option blocks, please be aware that not all combinations are possible.
In addition to academic requirements stated above a place will be dependent on the receipt of a satisfactory school reference.

Course Summary
Students will view, evaluate, and analyse a variety of media products, and develop practical skills spanning a range of media forms. This course is ideal for students wanting to gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of the increasingly important role that media plays in day-to-day life.
Course Details
A-level Media Studies engages students in the in-depth study of media products in relation to the four areas of the theoretical framework. Students will study these aspects of media in both years of the course.

Students are required to study media products from all of the following media forms:
• television
• film
• radio
• newspapers
• magazines
• advertising and marketing
• online, social, and participatory media
• video games
• music video
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Both formal examinations will be taken at the end of Year 13.
Media 1: Written exam 2 hours
Media 2: Written exam 2 hours
Media 3: Non-exam assessment: Creating a cross-media production
Entry requirements
5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above. Grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language.
