Entry Requirements: Our general entry requirements are:-
• A Levels – advanced courses, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 5+ qualifications, including English and mathematics. Some subjects may have additional entry requirements.
• BTEC Level 3 – advanced courses, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 4+ qualifications, including English and mathematics. Some subjects may have additional entry requirements.
• T Level - technical course, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 5+ qualifications, including English and mathematics.
• BTEC Level 2 – One year programme, which could lead on to further studies, with an average entry requirement at least five grade 2 or above, including English and mathematics.

The Level 3 Extended Certificate in Applied Science provides students with a fundamental understanding of key scientific concepts in biology, chemistry and physics. The course will enhance the students’ understanding from GCSE and develop their knowledge to a higher level.

Fundamentals of science (biology, chemistry and physics), science in society, investigating science, analytical techniques in chemistry, environmental studies, forensic biology, medical physics.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment
The course is assessed through a combination of externally assessed units (exams) and Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) units (practical assignments). The assessment is split between these two methods:
External Assessment (Exams - 40%): These units primarily focus on testing your subject knowledge and understanding through formal, written examinations that are set and marked by OCR.
Non-Exam Assessment (NEA - 60%): These units focus on applied and practical skills. They are assessed through assignments and laboratory work that you complete. The assignments are set by OCR, but they are assessed by the school and then moderated externally by OCR.
