Course Summary
If you aspire to pursue a career in professions like teaching or nursing, a science GCSE could be a prerequisite. This course can be taken alongside other full courses, such as Childcare or Health and Social Care, to fulfil the science GCSE requirement.
Course Details
The Biology GCSE course covers various topics, including cell biology, organ systems, infection and response, bioenergetics, homeostasis, inheritance, variation and evolution, and ecology. Additionally, there will be ten mandatory practicals throughout the year that need to be completed to pass the course, but their results will not contribute to the final grade.
There may be optional visits involved in the course. It is advisable to purchase a revision guide. You may need to purchase a lab coat and goggles.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The course will be assessed solely through exams, and there will be no controlled assessments.
