Entry Requirements - Admissions into LAE6 are based on candidates successfully meeting our entry requirements of at least five good passes in GCSE subjects (grade 4 or above), including at least a grade 4 in Maths and English, and grade 6 or better in the subjects they wish to study.

Course Summary

This course is ideal for students with a keen interest in textiles and design. It offers a comprehensive exploration of textile techniques, materials, and processes. Students will develop skills in creating textile art and design pieces, focusing on creativity, innovation, and personal expression. The course encourages experimentation with various materials and techniques while fostering an understanding of the historical and cultural contexts of textile design.

Unit 1: Visual Recording and Communication

Unit 2: Critical and Contextual Studies in Art and Design

Unit 3: The Creative Process

Unit 4: Textiles Materials, Techniques and Processes

Ideal for students who are creative, innovative, and have a passion for textiles. They should be willing to experiment with new ideas and materials. Successful students will be self-motivated, able to work independently, and interested in pursuing further education or careers in art and design.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment is continuous throughout the course with a combination of practical projects, written assignments, and presentations. Each unit is assessed internally with external moderation.

Admissions into EA6 are based on candidates successfully meeting our entry requirements of at least 5 good passes in GCSE subjects (grade 4 or above).
